  • Camp Osborn

    This 850 acre reservation is used by the Boy Scouts of America to host various Scouting groups. While also being open to the public, Camp Osborn offers various activities such as a climbing wall, shooting sports, water sports, nature programs, trail hiking, and more!

  • Curtis T. Shipp Park

    Located in Sylvester near Martin Luther King Drive


    This park is home to a basketball court, baseball field, pond, and a walking track. When visiting, be sure to stop by the Village Community Garden nearby!

  • Gervaise Lawhorne Park

    Known locally as the Duck Pond, Gervaise Lawhorne Park is home to different wildlife in Worth County. The park is equipped with covered shelters, restrooms, and a walking path around the pond. The park is also home to the annual Fishing Rodeo.

Since then, Sylvester has blossomed into a thriving city with multiple new businesses without forgetting its historical aspects. Our restored historical downtown is home to many of our small businesses and events throughout the year.

  • Lake Blackshear

  • Ole Engine 100

    A steam locomotive that ran the rails of the Georgia-Ashburn Sylvester-Camilla Railways from 1930 to 1948 until replaced with the diesel. In 1957, the "Little Engine That Could" was donated to the Sylvester-Worth County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Sylvester by GASC railways for a well deserved rest. Today, it now sits on Jeffords Park in Sylvester, Ga.

  • Pope Park

    The historic baseball field holds the distinction of being the longest consecutively played field in the State of Georgia. In 2012, the field marked its 100th anniversary. Today, the field proudly serves as the home turf for our High School and Middle School Baseball teams.

  • Possum Poke

    Poulan, Ga

  • Poulan Library

    The City of Poulan is nested in Southwest Georgia and is home to one of the smallest libraries in the state. The small library is placed on the National and State Historic Registers. It is open to the public on Thursday afternoons or by appointment.

  • WRB Plantation

    Formerly known as Castle Rock, the WRB Plantation is home to well-drained, fertile soils that provide productive ground cover and native wiregrass. The numerous ponds ranging from 2-12 acres provide duck hunting and fishing experiences.

    The Sumner Auditorium is being kept up and utilized in different ways. It houses the town's City Hall and the Sumner Arts Council. The old school is still being used for various functions in the County. 

  • Sylvester Local News

    Beginning in 1884 as the Sumner Free Trader, the Sylvester Local News is the oldest business in Worth County. The building was built in the late 1920's and still houses an original, fully functional linotype macine, as well as other printing equipment available for demonstration upon request. There hours are as follows:

  • Sylvester Splash Park

    The Splash Pad is a great way to cool down in the summer heat! The area is equipped with picnic tables for small parties to enjoy. The park is now open from 10 am to 8 pm until they close for the season on September 6.

  • T.C. Jefford's Park

    This shaded public park is located at the intersection of Hwy 82 and State Route 33. The park is home to the historic "Ole Engine 100". It is equipped with a stage for public performances, numerous covered shelters, picnic tables, a playground, tennis courts, and a club house available for rent. The Annual Georgia Peanut Festival is held in Jeffords Park every year. 

  • Village Community Garden

    Southern Sky's Village Community Garden's intention is to provide food and education for its residents and is designed to meet the needs of the community youth and their families. The community garden supports aeroponic technology, as well as traditional agriculture practices. The Garden provides youth a gathering place to work, learn together, and engage with community members in productive and empowering horticultural activities. 

  • Wildlife Museum

    This museum contains animals from all around the world displayed in their natural habitat. The museum is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with a 12 pm to 1 pm closure for lunch.

    The Recreation Department offers numerous activities for all citizens of Worth County. The department offers everything from softball to cheerleading for our local youth to participate in. 

  • Samara Plantation

    The word "Samara" means winged seed, like that of a pinecone. Samara Plantation is 3,600 acres of longleaf pines and bobwhite quail. Along with one of the finest quail hunting experiences, Samara Plantation's kitchen staff is noted for serving the finest of southern cooking three times a day.
